€185 million 12 july 2011 jackpot winner

Euromillions players the world over will breathe a sigh of disappointment at the news that last nights €185 million Euromillions jackpot (a massive £161 million Pounds) was won by one lucky ticket holder in the UK.

Euromillions record breaking jackpot win

But of course with a SuperEnaLotto jackpot sitting at €40,900,000 there is always more than enough excitement to keep international lottery players going until the next big Euromillions rollover draw occurs.

So, what did this one lucky UK Euromillions ticket holder do to instantly become the 430th richest person in the United Kingdom? Simply chose the correct set of seven numbers for the draw: 17, 19, 38, 42 and 45, and Lucky Star numbers 9 and 10

The winning Euromillions Jackpot of €185 million Euros (£161 million Pounds) is officially the biggest Euromillions jackpot win in Europe. The winner is now instantly catapulted into the realm of some other very wealthy people. UK celebrities that the winner is now equal to in wealth include:

- David and Victoria Beckham
- Ringo Starr (former Beatle)
- Tom Jones
- Eric Clapton
- Phil Collins
- Rod Stewart

Whilst not quite in the same league as the richest man in the UK, Lakshmi Mittal (with a fortune of £17.51 billion), the winner of Tuesdays Euromillions draw is now staggeringly wealthy beyond most peoples wildest dreams!

The following stats were taken from the UK Daily Telegraph:

"The top prize of €185 million Euros (£161 million Pounds) would earn £9,323 per day in interest, which equates to £3.4 million per year."

"If £161 million was stacked in £50 notes, it would be almost 1200 feet (365 metres) tall - almost four times the height of Big Ben."

With last nights Euromillions winner taking home a record-breaking €185 million Euros (£161 million Pounds) the bar has now been raised on lottery jackpots everywhere!

The Euromillions, also known as the Euro Millions, the Euro Lotto and the European lottery, was launched in 2004 and is played and enjoyed by lottery pundits from across the world on www.playhugelottos.com.

Next EuroMillions Draw is Today: Jackpot €185 million

If a single person scoops the €185m EuroMillions jackpot today they will become the 418th richest person in the United Kingdom

If you are alone in scooping todays EuroMillions jackpot your wealth will apparently outstrip the Beckhams.

Tonight's Euro Millions jackpot will be the largest lottery jackpot ever offered in the United Kingdom.

After a series of rollovers it stands at €185m, and because it has been capped at this amount prizes in the next tier down are now also worth much more than usual.

No one scooped the jackpot last Friday, although two UK ticket holders did win a very nice £3.3m each for matching 5 main numbers and 1 lucky star. Their prize win was boosted because the jackpot has been capped at €185 million, meaning any extra money rolls down to the prizes in the next tier down. The usual  prize for matching those numbers would be approx. £211,000, Camelot said.

The lottery operator saw sales of the £2 tickets hit 3 million an hour, and high sales are expected again today.

A National Lottery spokeswoman said: "The massive €185m jackpot is still to be won, and all eyes now focus on next Tuesday's draw. In addition to the chance to win this life-changing prize, we could also see several millionaires created in the next prize level down."

This series of Euro Millions rollovers has also generated £100m to be donated to charitable causes, the lottery operator said.

If one player takes the €185m prize they would be the biggest lottery winner ever in Europe. They would also become the 418th richest person in the United Kingdom and would be little better off than the Beckhams with their fortune of £165m, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

According to Coutts bank, investing this kind of money would earn the winner interest of £9,323 a day, or £3.4m a year.

No winner last night: Next 8 july Jackpot rollover is €185 000 000

The EuroMillions jackpot will hit an estimated €185 million after no winner emerged last night.

The prize money, which would create the biggest ever winner in Europe if a single ticket holder scooped the lot, will now roll over again to Friday's contest.

The current biggest lottery winner in the United Kingdom is an anonymous ticketholder who scooped a £113million prize last October.

On August 22, 2009, a single ticket winner won Italy's SuperEnalotto jackpot, which was 147,807,299.08 euros (£128.3 million at the time).

The EuroMillions jackpot can grow to a maximum of 185million euros.

If no one wins this Friday, jackpot will be frozen until a lucky player matches all 5 main numbers and 2 Lucky Star numbers to win.

Any prize money which would have boosted the current jackpot above this level will be passed down to the next prize level in each draw, boosting the payout for those winners.

The winner would be the equivalent of 418th on the Sunday Times Rich List.

HOW TO PLAY FOR EUROMILLIONS

Players select five numbers between 1 and 50 and two Lucky Stars from 1 to 11.

The EuroMillions draws normally take place in Paris, and players must match a minimum of two main numbers to win a prize. Match five numbers and both Lucky Stars to win the jackpot, or a share of it.

Previously, Britain has had a number of huge prize winners, some sharing jackpots in excess of £100million.

Nigel Page and Justine Laycock from Cirencester won £56million in February 2010 after sharing their prize with a Spanish winner.

And three months later an unnamed British ticket holder won £84.5million.

Four years ago Angela Kelly, a Royal Mail administrator from East Kilbride, Scotland, won £35.4million, which at the time was the largest lottery win in the UK.

For those looking to history to influence their choice of number, a National Lottery spokesman revealed the most, and least, frequently drawn numbers.

The most frequently drawn main number is 50, having been drawn 58 times, most recently on 28 June 2011. The least frequently drawn main number is 28, drawn 28 times, last on 27 May 2011.

Tuesday 5 july 2011: EuroMillions Jackpot is record breaking superdraw €171 million

A DIZZYING jackpot of €171 million is up for grabs on next Tuesday after nobody won last night's record EuroMillions pot.

If a single ticket holder had won, they would have on their bank account  €154 million - it would be the biggest lottery prize in British history.

But again no one matched all 5 numbers and 2 lucky stars - meaning the jackpot rolls over for the 12 time since May 24.

A National Lottery spokeswoman said: "This is amazing. The €171 million EuroMillions jackpot is up for grabs on Tuesday and it is the biggest ever offered in Europe. This is going to get many people up and down the country really excited."

14 tickets did match 5 numbers plus 1 star, netting prizes of £159,128 each.

Last night's winning numbers were 8, 11, 23, 31 and 46, with lucky stars 8 and 9.

Euro Millions Jackpot can roll over an unlimited number of times but if the jackpot reaches £167million it stops growing. Any extra cash is then passed down to the next winning prize level in that draw.
